Legislation Compliance in Food Animal Medicine – Fact Sheet

This fact sheet provides guidance for food animal veterinarians on complying with federal legislation regarding antimicrobial drug use. Under the Animal Medicinal Drug Use Clarification Act (AMDUCA) and 21 CFR part 530, the FDA can prohibit the use of certain drugs if an acceptable analytical method is not established or if their use poses a public health risk. This tool assists veterinarians in selecting appropriate antimicrobial drugs that adhere to these regulations across various scenarios.

Veterinary Antimicrobial Stewardship Resources

In collaboration with colleagues at the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (WADDL), University of Washington’s Center for One Health Research (COHR) has gathered resources for veterinary antimicrobial stewardship from experts around the world and organized them into an easily searchable format.
